Do your plans this season include a fever, scratchy sore throat, muscle aches, or a runny nose? Not the makings of a fun time. Well if you haven’t had your flu shot chances are you’ll experience some or all of these symptoms of the flu. While there isn’t an official “flu season” outbreaks can begin as early as October, and tend to peak around January.
The flu, short for influenza is a respiratory infection caused by a virus. It can develop very quickly and usually comes with a fever along with a host of other symptoms.
If you’re like me and you don’t have time for the flu, avoid the potential days of misery with a simple preventative step…get the flu shot.
Flu shots are available at your nearest CVS MinuteClinic, and there’s no appointment necessary. The CDC recommends the flu shot for everyone ages six months and older including those who were vaccinated last flu season.
I’m not a fan of needles – this is my real reaction…no playing I HATE them. But, I am a big advocate of the flu shot.
I’m not taking any chances this season so I dragged Hubs along…misery loves company.
Our MinuteClinic nurse practitioner Hannah was wonderful. She had us in and out in less than 15 minutes armed with info about this year’s flu shot strain and helpful advice for what to expect in the next couple of days.
You’ll receive a 20% off CVS/pharmacy shopping pass when you get a flu shot at CVS/pharmacy or MinuteClinic (not currently available in MA, RI, PA and NY). I love any excuse to shop and save a little money!
The flu vaccine becomes effective about 2 weeks after it’s given, so now is the perfect time to get protected! Head to your nearest CVS MinuteClinic for your flu shot.
Disclosure: I participated in the MinuteClinic Flu Shot campaign. I received a voucher for a free flu shot and gift card. As always my opinions are my own!
